A Ford ute is destroyed by fire on the outskirts of Owaka yesterday.
Owaka Deputy Fire Officer Kelly Chambers said the blaze set a nearby hedge on fire, which in turn threatened a house, but the brigade brought the fire under control in 10 minutes before further damage could be caused.
The cause was not yet known but could have been an electrical fault.
