Dark Light Art Collective members Dunedin video artist Ted Whitaker, Hawea Flat photographer and painter Robyn Bardas, Dunedin photographer Rachel Hope Allan and Gibbston Valley light artist Kristen O'Sullivan Peren at the inaugural residency at the Kaka Point home of late poet laureate Hone Tuwhare yesterday.

As part of the residency they began research for an exhibition to be staged later in the year, Bardas said.

Later this year they will also give a presentation at the Art and Books Symposium at the Dunedin School of Art and the artists will also help fundraise for the Hone Tuwhare Charitable Trust to renovate the late poet's home.

The poet lived in the seaside crib from 1992 until his death in 2008. The Hone Tuwhare Charitable Trust was established by family, friends and supporters of Tuwhare in July 2010, to establish a residency for writers and artists at his former home.

The group left Kaka Point after the week-long residency last night.
