Graduation day

First-year agriculture student John-Kurt Burnett, of Whangarei, leads the Telford Pipe Band and the Telford graduation parade along Clyde St on Friday.

It was the last day for students at Balclutha's Telford: A Division of Lincoln University yesterday.

Lincoln University guests of honour, Telford staff and 79 students paraded along Clyde St to the memorial hall where graduands in equine, forestry, rural animal technician and agriculture programmes were honoured.

Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan, who paraded with the graduands, called the show of support from Balclutha residents who came out of main street shops to watch the procession ''brilliant''.

Classes resume on January 31 next year.
