More submissions on plan

The Clutha District Council received more than one and a-half times as many submissions on its long term plan for 2015-25 than it did the last time.

At 3pm the council had received 300 submissions and was accepting them until 5pm when the submission period closed yesterday.

In 2012, the council got fewer than 190 submissions.

Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan has said the plan had the most ''directional changes'' he had ever seen in a council plan in his political career.

''I'm happy that the numbers have increased, but overall I think that's a pretty low number,'' he said.
