Police want help from the public to find the driver of a four-wheel-drive that hit a wooden fence in a residential neighbourhood on Saturday.
Sometime between 6pm and 11pm, the 4WD left the road and hit a fence in Paisley St, Balclutha.
The vehicle was then driven away.
A side mirror from the vehicle was left behind.
Police said the vehicle was likely to be a 1990 to 1996 gunmetal grey Nissan Terrano with damage to the front passenger side.
