The Tuapeka Mouth ferry, also known as the punt, will be out of operation from Monday for about three weeks, for planned maintenance.
Some painting work will be done, as well as a marine survey.
Clutha District Council service delivery group manager, Jules Witt, said the historic punt mainly operated as a tourist attraction, but some locals also used it on a regular basis.
