Vicar Vivienne Galletly is happy with the turnout for the sesquicentennial celebrations of St John's Anglican Church in Milton yesterday.

About 60 people turned up to the morning service.

The church was first dedicated by the Rev George Selwyn on April 17, 1866.

The Bishop of Dunedin the Rt Rev Dr Kelvin Wright led the sermon, which was followed by an organised lunch.

The public were invited to view the church and scrapbooks on display in the afternoon.
