Rosebank Primary School pupil Levi Temoananui-Curry (8) escapes the clutches of Markthomas Natiri (8) at the South Otago Rippa Rugby Tournament in Balclutha yesterday.
Fifteen schools and about 92 teams from three age groups, years 3 and 4, 5 and 6, and 7 and 8, took part.
The top three qualifying teams from each age group will advance to compete in an Otago-wide tournament to be held next month at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin.
Members of the Otago rugby team also attended the tournament to show support.
