Oktoberfest will come to West Otago tomorrow.
The Moa Flat Young Farmer's Club is organising Tapanui's
second beer fest, following on from last year's sold-out
event.
The Moa Flat Young Farmer's Club Beer Fest will be held in
Kelso Court, at the West Otago Showgrounds, on State Highway
90 just outside Tapanui.
Club president Matt Haugh said the event would be based on
traditional German beer festivals.
"It's exactly the same as last year, with a few extras - a
chance to have a good night out after calving or lambing," Mr
Haugh said.
Hofbrau beer, Meenan's beer and Monteith's cider would be the
beverages available, and non-alcoholic drinks would also be
available, all served by beer maids in traditional costume.
The festival would start at 6.30pm and 300 tickets were
available.
Music for the evening would be provided by the Kaikorai
Metropolitan Brass Bavarian Band, led by a beermeister.
A courtesy van would be available take people home to
anywhere in West Otago and as far south as Gore.
Tickets are still available at West Otago Transport, in
Heriot, and at Hammer Hardware, in Tapanui.
The event is beingorganised by the MoaFlat Young Farmers
Club, as a fundraiser for the West Otago health centre.
