Some residents living near the scene a large fire in Gore are being evacuated this evening because of concerns about toxic smoke from the blaze.
Fire crews were called to the blaze, at Livestock Supplies, in Railway St, about 6.20pm.
Police initially advised people to keep windows and doors closed and stay away from the area, but concerns over the smoke have reportedly prompted some evacuations.
Explosions were heard, and large amounts of smoke covered the township.
Crews from Gore, Mataura, Pukerau and Tapanui attended.
