A 27-year-old woman was admitted to Southland Hospital early yesterday with stab wounds, and a second woman was arrested as a result of an incident in Te Anau.
Invercargill police said the CIB was investigating the incident, which occurred early on Sunday morning, at a bar in the town.
A 40-year-old Te Anau woman had been arrested and would appear in the Invercargill District Court today.
The stabbing was not a result of a fight, as had been reported, Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane, of the Southern District Command Centre, said.
