Four men and a woman will appear in the Invercargill District Court next week on charges including burglary, receiving and the unlawful taking of motor vehicles.
Senior Constable Kelvin Templeton, of Riverton, said Riverton and Invercargill police apprehended the men and woman following a burglary of the Riverton Racecourse on Thursday morning.
Police acknowledged the assistance of members of the public in identifying the group involved and the recovery of stolen property.
''With the Easter Riverton Races due to be run [today] , this is a timely reminder to persons who may seek to become involved in criminal activity in and around the Riverton area that both the police and local community are watching,'' Snr Const Templeton said.
