Invercargill man with head injuries dies

A 56-year-old man found last week at an Invercargill house with serious head injuries has died.

Barry Ross McCorkindale (56), of Invercargill, was found in his Thomson St home with serious head injuries about 7pm on Friday.

Police are now piecing together what happened, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Bowman, of Invercargill, said.

"A forensic post mortem is to be carried out tomorrow in Invercargill and a police forensic team is continuing to carry out a scene examination at the address to try and determine what has occurred,'' Det Sgt Bowman said.

"This examination is expected to take a number of days.

"An investigation team is carrying out inquiries to try and establish the events leading up to the man receiving his injuries.''

Police want to hear from members of the public who might have heard or seen anything suspicious in or near Thomson St, in Invercargill, between 3pm-7pm last Friday.
