Police say little about death

Police are releasing few details about the death of Invercargill man Barry Ross McCorkindale (56), who was found last week at his Invercargill house with serious head injuries.

Police would not say how Mr McCorkindale was found or how they believed he was injured.

Police advised media yesterday he had died from his injuries.

He had been found in his Thomson St home about 7pm on Friday.

Police were now piecing together what happened, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Bowman, of Invercargill, said.

''A forensic postmortem is to be carried out tomorrow in Invercargill and a police forensic team is continuing to carry out a scene examination at the address to try and determine what has occurred,'' Det Snr Sgt Bowman said.

''This examination is expected to take a number of days.

''An investigation team is carrying out inquiries to try and establish the events leading up to the man receiving his injuries.''

Police want to hear from members of the public who might have heard or seen anything suspicious in or near Thomson St, Invercargill, between 3pm and 7pm last Friday.
