Crash cause investigated

Police are investigating the cause of the crash that killed Phillip John Ballantyne (57), of Invercargill, whose name was released last night.

The 1993 Land Rover Discovery, carrying three occupants, rolled shortly after taking a corner on Otatara Rd about 7.45pm on Monday.

Mr Ballantyne was killed in the crash and the other two occupants, a male and a female, were taken to Southland hospital with minor to moderate injuries and later discharged, police said.

Specialist staff, including a serious crash investigator attended, and conducted scene examinations.

Witnesses to the crash have been asked to contact Senior Constable Jordan Edwards of Invercargill on (03) 211-0400.
