Police are continuing their investigation into a serious assault outside a bar in Invercargill on Sunday.
A police spokeswoman said police were still investigating the incident.
A 47-year old man injured in the assault outside Tillerman's Bar shortly after midnight is still in Dunedin Hospital in a serious but stable condition, police say.
Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.
A large crowd were gathered outside the bar in Don St when the assault occurred.
"This is a timely reminder to make a safety plan with your group prior to going out, so that if you have been drinking alcohol and a verbal altercation does occur you can avoid the situation escalating," a statement said.
