A tramper overdue from a walk in the Arthur's Pass National Park last night used the light from his cellphone to guide him out of the bush.
The Solid Energy Rescue Helicopter was called from Greymouth about 7.30pm to help search for the overdue man, who had been walking to Crow Hut.
Using night vision gear the helicopter pilot spotted the cellphone light and picked up the disoriented tramper.
