The Dunedin-based Nude Blacks have been beaten for the first
time - suffering a shock 25-20 loss to the Spanish
Conquistadores this afternoon.
The much-anticipated clash at Kettle Park drew a crowd of
1500 and a large contingent of international media.
The rules of the contest dictated that the Spanish team - six
women and a man - took off an item of clothing when they
scored and put clothes back on when the Nude Blacks scored.
Speculation was rife that these rules and some questionable
officiating by celebrity referee Brendan Laney may have had a
decisive influence on the final score.
The Spanish team won an international video competition to
play in the unofficial Rugby World Cup curtain-raiser.
