Following the major redevelopment of Coronet Peak's base building - as part of a $30 million summer upgrade in 2008 - a similar upgrade for the Remarkables Ski Area, is "being looked at", NZSki says.

Coronet Peak has been forced to revise its closing day for the second time this season as warmer spring temperatures bite into ski and snowboarding operations.

"Phenomenal" snow conditions have prompted Coronet Peak to extend its season, allowing for up to an extra week of skiing and riding, or as long as conditions allow.

Some of the world's best ski racers were in action at Coronet Peak's Rocky Gully this week, with the United States, Canadian and New Zealand national teams conducting training in the race arena.

Recreational skiers were yesterday able to rub shoulders with some of the world's best ski racers, as the national teams from the United States, Canada and New Zealand trained at Coronet Peak.

The US national ski race team has arrived in Queenstown and is now training at Coronet Peak.

Coronet Peak saw some real race action on Friday, when the main recreational run on the mountain - the M1 - was transformed into an ultra-fast downhill race course for the 23rd New Zealand Ski Masters, which attracted a strong field, including former Winter Olympians.
