Skiers and boarders at Coronet Peak may be treated to a new
chairlift next winter.
NZSki Ltd has lodged a resource consent application with
Lakes Environmental, which, if approved, would allow
installation of a new four-seater chairlift, replacing the
existing two-seater Meadows chairlift.
The application said the novice two-seater Meadows chairlift
had been "outgrown by the market's demand in the learner
novice market".
"The experience delivered at peak times is unsatisfactory and
requires a high-capacity chairlift to provide our guests with
a quality experience."
Work was expected to start this month and be completed in May
2010 and would require the relocation of trail works.
