Parklife team member Nick Hyne, of Queenstown, impressed
audiences and judges in the 2009 Tararua Real Iced Coffee
Slopestyle Series at The Remarkables by winning a spot on the
podium at each event.
Now in its 11th year, the series was held in the Dirty Dog
Terrain Park at the ski area on July 26, August 15, September
5 and September 19, with categories for men, women and
juniors in ski and snowboard.
The Remarkables ski area manager Ross Lawrence said it had
been a successful season for the series, with plenty of
talent on display.
"It was amazing to see the extent of the talent . . . and the
improvement of the competitors throughout the season.
"We were fortunate enough to have fine weather for each event
in the series, and we had entries from all over the district
as well as some internationals.
"The feedback was really positive from everyone."
Individual cash prizes were awarded after each event and
local riders took charge, Mr Lawrence said.
"Every year, [Nick Hyne] keeps pushing the envelope further
and impressing us.
"Adie Lawrence stood out among the girls, which shows The
Remarkables is home to some great local talent.
"This is what this series is all about - bringing local
talent through."
