Rozie Robinson will don the Hill City-University singlet for the last time at the national long-distance walking championships in Auckland today.

Robinson, who turned 24 yesterday, will transfer to New Brighton Olympic after representing Otago in the 20km walk today.

She has represented Hill City-University since 2009, when she moved to Dunedin from Blenheim to study.

After moving to Christchurch a year ago to be closer to coach John Henderson and the rest of the walking squad, she felt now was the right time to transfer.

''I could have had the transfer done earlier but I wanted to finish with the club and with Otago on a good note,'' she said.

''I wanted to do one last race with them. So I thought this was probably the best time to do it - at a national event.''

Robinson, who won the national 15km road title earlier in the year and has three national titles in the 3km, said it would be ''weird'' to put on a singlet other than the Hill City-University one.

''It is going to feel weird, but if you want to progress, sometimes you just need to transfer and get the support closer to you.''

Last weekend, Robinson recorded a season-best 14min 0.8sec time over 3km on grass, and said the body was feeling good ahead of this weekend.

She hopes to come away with a PB today and finish on a high for Otago, before focusing on Christchurch races until the national track and field championships in March. Her ultimate goal is to qualify for the national team for the walking world cup in 2016.
