Sand sitting at Kettle Park due to remedial work on St Clair beach erosion will not affect the annual Barnes cross-country event tomorrow, the race organiser says.
Sand has been placed at the St Clair end of the park while work is carried out, resulting in an adjustment to the 1.25km off-road track.
Race organiser Peter Bromley, of Ariki Athletics and Harrier Club, said the track no longer included that part of the ground but the adjustment was not difficult to make.
The event is jointly run by Ariki and the Caversham Harrier and Athletics Club.
The track begins at the Kettle Park No1 ground, heading towards the Dunedin Rugby Football Club then left towards Victoria Rd.
It then runs alongside Victoria Rd, backtracks on to the park, heads back towards Victoria Rd and winds back round the ground to the start.
Just under 100 runners have registered for the event.
The one-lap boys and girls under-13 races start at 1pm, followed by the three-lap open walk five minutes later.
The four-lap open men's race begins at 1.45pm, with the two-lap men's and women's youth races and the three-lap open women's race kicking off at 2.20pm.
There is also a boys and girls under-8 fun run of between 500m and 800m.
