The Bombers (0-8) missed their best chance to secure a victory this season after they were dealt to by Otago Boys' High School (3-5) in the A grade competition on Saturday.

With teams missing players through University holidays, and with Otago Boys' holding the second-worst record in the league, the Bombers failed to capitalise, losing 94-69.

Otago Boys' was helped by high-flying big man Luke Aston making his first game for the club this season.

Aston shot from the outside with ease, stroking seven three-pointers to make up 21 of his game-high 25 points.

A team that seems to change its line-up very week looked like a team that had been playing together all season, with some superb passing always leaving a man unguarded.

The Bombers' job, however, was made difficult with the team fielding only five players, resulting in only having timeouts and intervals to catch a breather.

Steve Robinson and Chris Hepburn provided the only bright sparks for the Bombers, Robinson scoring 17 and Hepburn managing a team-high 22.

The Bombers need some team-mates to step up if they want to have any chance of securing a victory this season.

Earlier, the Falcons (6-2) played fluent team basketball without their two top stars to beat a Saints side (4-4) that looked unstoppable last week.

With the Falcons missing Sam King and Tony Wallbutton for the second consecutive week, guard Alaric McCarthy stood up, scoring 22 points in an 81-71 victory.

For the Saints, surprise man Damian Burdon tried to salvage a victory for his club, scoring a team-high 22 points in a losing effort.

In the other game, the Magic (7-1) extended its run to seven straight victories, brushing aside a strong University Blue side (4-4) with ease.

Riki Buckrell continued his top form with 31 points, and scored the team's last eight points in an 86-67 victory.

Campbell Arnott top-scored for University with 24 points.
