Basketball: Breakers down Kings in pre-season

The New Zealand Breakers finished their ANBL build-up with a 94-84 win over the Sydney Kings in Dunedin tonight.

After going into halftime 47-42 down, the Breakers battled back and closed out the third quarter with a 66-61 lead, Fairfax media reports.

Sydney pulled it back to 73-72 in the final quarter before the home side went an 11-0 run to put the result beyond doubt.

Corey Webster led the Breakers with a game-high 24 points, while Reuben Te Rangi potted 14. Captain Mika Vukona had eight points and nine rebounds in 25 minutes on court.

The Breakers open their season away to defending champions the Perth Wildcats next Friday night.
