Basketball: All-Star weekend participants revealed

The NBA has revealed the participants for the Slam Dunk Contest, Skills Challenge and Three-Point Shootout at next weekend's All-Star weekend in Toronto.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine returns to the Slam Dunk Contest to defend his title. LaVine impressed during last year's contest, with a show of athleticism and innovation seeing him put on a memorable display.

He is joined by Detroit Pistons centre Andre Drummond, Denver Nuggets guard Will Barton and Orlando Magic sophomore forward Aaron Gordon.

Most Valuable Player-favourite and defending champion Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, leads the eight-man three-point shootout field. He is joined by fellow Warriors star shooter Klay Thompson.

Others named to compete are JJ Redick, Khris Middleton, James Harden, Chris Bosh, Kyle Lowry and rookie Devin Booker.

Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley will defend his Skills challenge title. He will compete with guards CJ McCollum, Isaiah Thomas and Jordan Clarkson, as well as bigs DeMarcus Cousins, Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Davis and Draymond Green.

The events will take place on All-Star Saturday night - Sunday February 14 New Zealand time.
