Shane Archbold has won New Zealand's fourth Commonwealth Games gold at the velodrome in Glasgow with victory in the men's 20km scratch race this morning.

Sam Webster then added to the New Zealand team medal tally and his own personal haul with a silver in the kierin final, to go with his two golds.

Archbold held off a late charge by Australian Glenn O'Shea to cross the line in first and claim his first Commonwealth medal. Canadian Remi Pelletier was third.

Tom Scully, who won the points race yesterday, finished in eighth and Dylan Kennett in 12th.

It was a well deserved win for Archbold after helping teammates Scully and Aaron Gate to both medal in the points race.

"Yesterday was one of the best days I've had in my life helping Tom and Aaron to first and third and the only way to top that is winning yourself," Archbold told Sky Sport.

"Dylan and Tom rode so well for me and we did the perfect race. Strongest and smartest team out there.

"It's been a long time coming and I've seen a lot of other people get success over and beyond me and I've always done the hard work. Today makes it pay off."

Webster finished behind Australian Matthew Glaetzer in the kierin final in a tight finish. Glaetzer just denied Webster a third gold in Glasgow with Malaysian Mohd Azizulhasni Awang getting the bronze.

Fellow Kiwi Eddie Dawkins finished sixth in the final after leading Webster into the final lap.
