Timing is everything in cricket.
And wee Charlotte (Charlie) Hesson and her older sister Holly
have the knack.
Holly made her grand entrance to the world three and a-half
years ago, timing her summer arrival neatly between Otago
cricket games.
Her younger sister had more room for error, but the margin
was still pretty tight.
Charlotte (3.2kg) was born on Thursday morning, a few weeks
before her father, Otago Volts coach Mike Hesson (35) was
scheduled to leave for Brisbane, where he will lead the New
Zealand A side in an emerging players tournament.
"The family has got used to it," Kate Hesson (33) said.
"Mike travelled a lot before we had a family ... and it gives
us a bit of a breather," she joked.
With two potential Otago Sparks players in the brood, would
the couple try for a future Volts player? "No.
"We're pretty happy to have two healthy children," Mike said.
