There was the rare occurrence of a second tied match in Dunedin senior cricket within a month as front runner Albion managed to salvage some points from Kaikorai.

Ben Kidston's 150th game for Taieri was not really one to remember, as his side was beaten by Carisbrook-Dunedin by five runs.

Green Island had a comfortable seven-wicket win over University-Grange, while North East Valley had the bye.

• Albion 134 tied with Kaikorai 134 at Bishopscour

It was a day where ball clearly dominated bat. Only Albion's Ollie Newton (33) and Kaikorai's Iain Robertson (44) managed any runs.

Dan Duke (three for 24 off eight), Colin Aitken (three for 18 off eight) and Geordie Scott (four for 30 off 6.4) took the wickets for Kaikorai, but special mention must go to Robertson's 0 for 11 off 10 overs, including 5 maidens.

Kaikorai's innings ticked along nicely, at around four runs an over, but regular wickets set up an exciting finish.

Dion McCall took three for 28 off five overs, but it was Patrick Cairns' third wicket (for 21 off 6.3) when the scores were tied that broke the Kaikorai players' hearts.

• Carisbrook-Dunedin 192 beat Taieri 187 at Brooklands

The top order again was shaky for Carisbrook Dunedin, in trouble at 29 for three early on. In-form Tony McEntyre (44) and Ash Simpson (30) got the innings back on track. Rhys Phillips (34) chipped in as usual.

Callum Thompson (five for 37 off 10) was the chief destroyer, taking the first three wickets. Logan Smart bowled some nice areas to take three for 36 off 10.

Brad Hamill's return to cricket, after suffering what was thought to be a season ending shoulder injury, was a good one as he took four for 35 off 9.3 with some sharp pace.

Hamill's initial breakthrough led to a 116-run stand for the second wicket between Ant Harris (59) and Marcel McKenzie (54).

Unfortunately for Taieri, nobody else could contribute significantly enough, and it fell five runs short. Phillips (three for 22 off 10) was again at his economical best.

• University-Grange 192 lost to Green Island 193/3 at Sunnyvale

Mark Joyce again showed his value to the Green Island side, taking five for 31 off 9.4 overs.

Grange was looking not too bad at 171 for five, thanks in large to Ciaran McMeekan (58), Mitch Rutherford (30) and Adam Coleman (29). Grange, however, lost its last five wickets for 22 runs, Joyce running through the tail.

Green Island's chase started poorly when Jason Hynes (two for 17 off six) removed both openers by the time the score was 34. Jordan Sheed (77) and Joyce (59no) then combined for 99 runs. Jamie Munro (29no) comfortably ticked off the remaining 60 runs in the 44th over.
