Canterbury have declared in their match against Otago to set
the home side a target for victory on a rain-affected last
day in Dunedin.
The chase has started smoothly, with Aaron Redmond and Hamish
Rutherford together and the total at 18-0.
The Volts played themselves back into contention this morning
by taking four quick wickets before rain halted play.
It was during the rain break that Canterbury declared at 252
for 9, setting Otago 235 to win.
The visitors had slumped from their overnight total of 234
for 5 as Otago fought back into the match.
While the Otago bowlers shared the second-innings spoils, the
most interesting dismissal came this morning when Canterbury
debutant Will Williams was given out handled ball, only the
fourth instance of such a dismissal in new Zealand
first-class cricket, according to Radio Sport.
