John McGlashan College had a win and two losses at the NZCT
finals for New Zealand's top years 7 and year 8 teams in
Palmerston North this week.
McGlashan had a commanding win on the opening day, dismissing
Medbury School for just 74 (Spencer Sutherland-Todd two for
16, Charlie Baker two for 18) and chasing down the target
with seven wickets to spare (Jordan Gain 27).
Against Tauranga Intermediate, McGlashan scored 124 for seven
(Lucas Reid 36, Max Chu 29) but Tauranga won with nine balls
to spare.
Yesterday, chasing Hutt International's 104 for seven
(Bradley Holdridge three for 18), McGlashan was dismissed for
90 (Reid 25, Baker 22) off the last ball.
Tauranga, which had also beaten Hutt on the opening day,
claimed the title with a 17-run win over Medbury yesterday.
Batting first, Tauranga made 113 for five. Medbury was then
held to 96 for six off its 20 overs.
Heaton Intermediate cruised to the girls' title with three
straight wins. Star player Kirran Maynard had innings of 86
not out, 62 and 26.
