Kevin Pietersen
England have fought back after India took the early
honours on a tough first day of the fourth test in Nagpur.
After being 16-2 at one stage, England battled back first
through Kevin Pietersen (73) and Jonathan Trott (44), then,
after slumping to 139-5, Joe Root (31 not out) and Matt Prior
(34 no) helped the visitors recover to 199-5.
Ishant Sharma dismissed Nick Compton (3) and Alastair Cook,
who fell lbw to a poor umpiring decision for one, to have
England in early strife, BBC reports.
Ian Bell, who has struggled for runs on tour, again failed as
he chipped leg-spinner Piyush Chawla to short extra cover
after scoring just one run in 28 balls.
England lead India 2-1, needing a draw in this final test to
win the series.
