Otago have recorded a big win over Wellington in their HRV
Cup encounter in Dunedin today.
After being sent in, the Volts top order fired in fine
fashion to carry their team to a challenging total of 204 for
3 in their 20 overs at the University Oval.
Wellington, in reply, were all out for 122 in the 18th over,
giving the home side a large 82-run victory
Otago's openers Hamish Rutherford (53 off 34 balls) and Neil
Broom (51 off 42) helped themselves to half-centuries before
the in-form Ryan ten Doeschate swung his way to 60 off 29
balls.
In Wellington's chase only opener Jesse Ryder, with 37,
really got going. Next best for the visitors was Ryder's
fellow opener Tamim Iqbal, who made 14.
Otago spinner Nick Beard starred with the ball, taking 4 for
16, while Ian Butler grabbed 3 for 32.
