The grinch stole Green Island's Christmas.
It was a Saturday to forget for top-of-the-table Green Island
as it was dismissed by struggling Taieri for 31 in a club
one-day match at Sunnyvale.
The perennial powerhouse and multiple national champion
elected to bat first and lost its first five wickets for just
Jamie Munro top-scored with what, in the circumstances, was a
Bradmanesque 13. Six team-mates recorded ducks as Green
Island folded in the 21st over.
Duncan Anderson (four for 13) and Tony Hannagan (three for
10) were the most damaging Taieri bowlers on a pitch that
reportedly held few demons.
Taieri openers Clint Hayward and Sam Pringle knocked off the
target inside nine overs.
It was revenge, of sorts, for Taieri, which was dismissed for
just 29 by Green Island in the 1995-96 season.
Green Island stalwart Jeremy Scott played in teams dismissed
for 50 and 56, but suspected 31 might be a record low for the
