Otago are on their way to a mammoth first-innings total
against Wellington in their Plunket Shield match in Dunedin.
After dismissing the visitors for a modest 254, the home side
laid the foundation for a good score yesterday, ending the
day on 139 for one.
They have taken full advantage of that good start today and
early in the second session are a very healthy 423 for 2,
leading by 169 with eight wickets in hand.
Opener Hamish Rutherford, who struck a brisk 90 yesterday,
failed to add to his overnight score, falling to Mark
Gillespie this morning, but Michael Bracewell and Neil Broom
have put the Wellington attack to the sword.
Bracewell has added more than 150 to his overnight score of
36 - a short time ago he was 189 not out - while Broom has
motored his way to 120 not out.
Gillespie, with 2 for 51, is the only Wellington bowler to
have had any success.
