Brad Rodden has scored a timely century for Otago A in its
three-day game against a visiting side from Tasmania at the
University Oval No 2 ground yesterday.
The top-order batsman posted 100 off 147 balls but was out
for 101 three deliveries later.
It was a fairly measured innings but he still got the ball
away to the boundary 15 times and over the rope on three
occasions.
His innings helped his side post 312 for seven declared in
reply to Tasmania's first-innings total of 355 for six
declared.
The game concludes today but what made Rodden's knock so
timely is that Otago is looking for replacements to fill in
during its Plunket Shield game with Northern Districts at the
Queenstown Events Centre which begins tomorrow. Six Otago
players were named in a New Zealand XI which will play
England in two warm-up matches in Whangarei on February 4 and
6 and will leave partway through the game.
