Cricket: Talented trio crucial for White Ferns

It is not just the Black Caps hoping to bring a title back to New Zealand from Bangladesh. Adrian Seconi looks at the three key players in the White Ferns.

SUZIE BATES
If our Suzie has a good tournament, the White Ferns will be hard to beat. There is not much the New Zealand and Otago captain cannot do on the cricket field. She is one of those players who can turn the game with both the bat and the ball. But in the past two years she has taken her batting to a new level. She was named ICC women's one-day player of the year in 2013 thanks to a superb tournament at the one-day World Cup in India. She loves the big stage.

SOPHIE DEVINE
Devine made her provincial debut as a 14-year-old. Ten years on, she is at the peak of her powers. The all-rounder is a dominant performer at domestic level and has the capability to take hold of a game at the top level. She averaged 72.80 in the women's domestic one-day tournament and 52 in the twenty20 format. She is Wellington's version of Suzie Bates.

NICOLA BROWNE
Browne is a veteran of 125 one-day internationals and one of the key contributors over a long period. She made her one-day debut in 2002 and has used pace and bounce to take 88 wickets at an average of 34.14. She is also a very handy batsman with 2002 runs at an average of 27.05. Like those mentioned above, she is a standout performer at domestic level.
