The University Oval will host two one-day internationals in the lead-up to the World Cup next year but Dunedin has lost out to a test match to Christchurch.

This morning, New Zealand Cricket released its itinerary for matches to be played before next year's World Cup.

Dunedin's University Oval will host two one day internationals against Sri Lanka on January 23 and January 25, a Friday-Sunday double-header

But Dunedin lost out to Christchurch in hosting a test.

Hagley Oval in Christchurch will host a Boxing Day test and also a one day international.

International cricket will also be played in Tauranga for the first time.
