The Black Caps have made a positive start to their three-day warm-up match against Pakistan A in Sharjah.

Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi was a standout with four for 58 and strike bowler Tim Southee claimed three for 20 to help restrict Pakistan A to 215 for nine.

That was an impressive effort considering Pakistan A posted 306 for three against Australia last month.

Opener Shan Masood top-scored with 67 before he was undone by a peach from Sodhi, and Adil Amin battled through to 43 until Southee found the edge of his bat late in the day.

Adnan Akmal nicked out the next ball, leaving Southee on a hat trick. No 10 Bilawal Bhatti played, missed and survived.

Sodhi capped off a fine day with a wicket in the last over.
