Cricket: England claims series 2-1

The England women's team emerged a 2-1 twenty/20 series victor over the White Ferns after collecting a relatively comfortable five-wicket win at Lincoln yesterday.

The visiting side's decision to bowl first on the Bert Sutcliffe Oval pitch paid off as England's attack never let the home side get going.

After losing skipper Suzie Bates for seven, the innings never really gained momentum.

The White Ferns eventually crawled to 97 for nine from 20 overs.

Sophie Devine's 37 off 31 balls was the one shining light.

England had the run rate firmly in hand from the start of its innings as Heather Knight (26), Sarah Taylor (20), Natalie Sciver (16) and Lydia Greenway (25) all reached double figures.

Lea Tahuhu was the best of the Ferns' bowlers, taking three for 28 from her four overs.

The one-day series, which the White Ferns lead 2-1, continues tomorrow.
