Cricket: Elliot and Ronchi reprise Dunedin partnership

Shades of the record partnership set in Dunedin back in January were displayed as the Black Caps strolled to an easy win in a warm up match in England.

The five match one day international series is due to start in England tomorrow morning and the New Zealand side will be pleased with its performance against Leicestershire.

Batting first, the side racked up a mammoth 373 in its 50 overs. Grant Elliot hit 106 and Luke Ronchi found his way to the same score.

The two men shared a notable 267 run stand against Sri Lanka at the University Oval in January this year and this time they added 221 runs together as they put the ball all round the park in the final overs. Both men were unbeaten at the end of the 50 overs.

Ross Taylor chipped in with 77 while Kane Williamson nudged it round for 45.

Chasing the big total, the Leicestershire side lost wickets at regular intervals and never got within sight of the Black Caps total.

It was eventually dismissed for 175 in the 43rd over, losing the match by 198 runs.

Best bowling for the New Zealand team came from Mitchell McClenaghan, who is coming off an impressive IPL season and picked up four wickets.

Spinner Mitch Santner took a couple of wickets and Martin Guptill got involved to also nab a wicket.

The first one day international will be played at Edgbaston.
