Cricket: Perry back in White Ferns squad

The White Ferns have named an experienced squad for the series against Sri Lanka later this month.

Wellington all-rounder Liz Perry returns to both the one-day international and twenty20 squads, having last played for the White Ferns in 2012.

The 27-year-old played overseas for a period, but forced her way back into the squad through strong domestic performances during the summer.

There is some youth in the side as well, with 19-year-old Hannah Rowe named in both squads and all-rounder Thamsyn Newton in line to make her debut, having been named in the T20 squad.

Newton and Wellington's 14-year-old Amelia Kerr were both named to train with the White Ferns in the build-up camp for the summer.

''This is a really important tour for us,'' White Ferns coach Haidee Tiffen said.

''We need a strong performance at home to set the tone for the rest of the summer and to make sure we get those ICC Women's Championship points.''

''It's great to have Liz back in the team. She knows what international cricket is all about and her form for Wellington in the summer showed how hungry she was to get back in the team.

A New Zealand A squad to face Sri Lanka and the White Ferns in warm-up games was also named.
