Brendon McCullum stands by the evidence he gave in the Chris Cairns perjury trial and says it is time to move on.

Speaking at a press conference in Dunedin ahead of the start tomorrow of the cricket test match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka, the New Zealand captain said now it was "all over" it was "certainly time to move on".

"From my point of view, I'm very comfortable with the evidence I gave."

Asked to respond to Cairns asking McCullum "why?" he gave the evidence he did at the trial, McCullum said: "This is not the forum to dive into those sorts of discussions. It was for the court room in London and that is where it took place."

When asked if he would testify for Lalit Modi - who is yet to confirm whether he'll launch a civil claim arising from Cairns successful libel case against Modi in 2012 - McCullum repeated that this was not the right forum in which to speculate about what would happen.

McCullum said he did not think his reputation had been sullied by the recent trial, in which Cairns was found not guilty of perjury.

"I don't think my reputation has been on the line during this whole time, McCullum said.

"I was one of a number of people who gave evidence in the trial. People are going to have their own opinion on what unfolded.

"He remained unemotional on hearing the verdict and was satisfied he gave evidence as accurately and honestly as he could.
