Cricket: Otago beat Northern Districts

Otago has beaten Northern Districts by 61 runs on the final day of their Plunket Shield match at the University Oval today.

At 38 for three overnight, Northern required 163 runs to win today. They fell well short though, as Otago took seven wickets for 101 runs to claim victory.

Jacob Duffy and Jack Hunter took three for 28 and three for 27 respectively, while Craig Smith, Sam Wells, Jimmy Neesham and Nathan McCullum all picked up one.

The wickets tumbled early in the day for Northern, leaving them at 61 for eight before the tail fought back, with James Baker top scoring with 41 not out.
