In a low-scoring encounter, Albion just got home over Green Island at Tonga Park.

Green Island 125 lost to Albion 127 for eight wickets

The wicket at Tonga Park was a tad slow but was not the sole reason for some poor scores by both teams.

Green Island batted first and though Gregor Croudis scored a patient 43 the side fell away quickly.

The team was looking good at 88 for two wickets but then collapsed, losing its next eight wickets for 37 runs.

Michael Snedden, who has taken a while to come back from shoulder surgery, bowled a fine line and length and made the Green Island batsmen play.

Many did not and Snedden picked up six wickets in just seven overs.

Five of his victims were either bowled or lbw, showing the good line that Snedden bowled.

In reply, Albion reached the finish line but hardly in convincing fashion.

It was eight down in the 36th over when it won the game.

Taylor Cumberland had racked up 33 for the Albion side and got the team through to 85 before he was dismissed by Dion Lobb.

Albion hung tough as the pressure came on and managed to get through to the total. Snedden was at the crease at the end.

Blair Soper bowled at a lively pace to take a couple of wickets, while Bradley Scot took three wickets.

Kaikorai 172 beat Carisbrook-Dunedin 60 by 112 runs

Kaikorai was always in control against Carisbrook-Dunedin at Bishopscourt.

The wicket offered inconsistent bounce and neither team looked at home with the bat.

Josh Finnie returned for Kaikorai and made a handy 38 while Iain Robertson helped with 41.

The home team was dismissed for 172 in the 35th over but the target was far too much for Carisbrook-Dunedin.

Spinner Hamish Robertson took a five-wicket bag and he bowled a nice line which the Carisbrook-Dunedin batters found very hard to get away.

The nature of the wicket made it difficult to hit the ball straight and some nicely flighted balls from Robertson earned wickets as Carisbrook-Dunedin never got going.

With three weeks to go, Kaikorai stays at the top of theclub competition.

North East Valley 136 beat Taieri 87 by 49 runs

In another low-scoring affair, North East Valley had in what the end was a comfortable victory over the home side at Brooklands.

North East Valley batted first and got through to 136 in the 41st over, losing wickets at regular intervals.

Tom Griffin scored 34 and was the only North East Valley batsman who made it past 30.

Taieri bowled well enough although it would not have been happy with 16 wides.

Jack Hunter took three wickets while Josh Tasman-Jones had a brace.

In reply, Taieri never got going and was all out for 87.

Only three players made double figures as the side was dismissed for 87 in the 29th over.

Isaac Gutschlag mopped up the tail, taking two wickets without conceding a run.
