Brendon McCullum got off to a weird and terrible start in his return to the Indian Premier League but his team still scored a crushing victory.

McCullum was stumped for a duck in the first over from the medium pacer Sandeep Sharma, with wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha standing up to the stumps.

Apart from that, the Gujarat Lions dominated their opening match against the Kings XI Punjab in Mohali, chasing down a total of 162 with 14 balls still available.

Former Aussie T20 captain Aaron Finch, an Auckland Aces recruit, led the way for the Lions with 74 from 47 deliveries, hitting 12 fours.
