Cricket: Kiwi scores 36 runs in an over

New Zealand's next big cricket prospect is setting records.

19-year-old Glenn Phillips has been tabbed by many as the Black Caps opener of the future, and he has shown his destructive power by smoking six sixes in an over in English cricket.

Playing for the Marylebone Cricket Club against the Duke of Norfolk XI last weekend, Phillips completed the remarkable 36-run over feat as part of blasting 201 from 123 balls.

His 201 made a stunning 67% of his side's 299/5 declared, while also becoming the first player to hit 36 in an over on the historic Arundel ground, where cricket has been played since 1895.

Phillips has been highly rated for a few years now, dominating the age-group, NZ Under 19 and A levels before showing his talent for Auckland last year - making 101 from 96 balls opening the innings against Otago.

He should get more opportunities to show his talent across all forms this summer.
