Recuperating batsman Jesse Ryder will sit out another of
Wellington's Plunket Shield four-day cricket matches, this
time against Canterbury beginning tomorrow at Rangiora.
A team statement said today Ryder was not considered for
selection, as he had not passed the required fitness criteria
laid down by New Zealand Cricket fitness and medical staff.
Ryder underwent surgery last month to reinforce his abdominal
wall and has been back in the nets and also playing club
cricket the past fortnight.
It was hoped that Ryder will be available for Wellington's
last Plunket Shield match against Otago starting on March 29
at the Basin Reserve in the capital.
Wellington squad to play Canterbury: Neal Parlane
(captain), Joe Austin-Smellie, James Franklin, Andrew Lamb,
Cameron Merchant, Stephen Murdoch, Chris Nevin, Michael
Pollard, Stuart Rhodes, Robbie Shaw, Malaesaili Tugaga, Luke
Woodcock.
