Cycling: Timely form shown by Saville

Bailey Saville showed she is on form for nationals next week, winning both senior B grade races and finishing third in the final handicap at Tuesday night's track racing at Seddon Park.

In the five-lap scratch race, Saville caught Bryony Telford, who attacked on the bell lap, and overtook on the back straight to win.

A close sprint between Telford and Ella Harris resulted in Harris finishing second. In the absence of a derny bike, Brad Evans paced the eight-lap keirin.

He rejoined once the sprint had started, catching and overtaking the field.

He passed second place-getter James McKeller on the home straight, while Telford fought off Wayne Evans to finish third.

In junior racing, Bradley White won the first scratch race after breaking on the bell lap and gaining a 50m lead on the field, while Mark McCormack fought hard to overtake the rest of the field for second place. Connor McDonald outsprinted Madeleine Cooper-Forster to finish third.

In the final handicap race, McCormack and White worked hard from scratch to take the lead and finished first and second.

Grace Hurring was third.

In the final race, a long handicap, Brad Evans had to work hard to make up six laps on limit rider McCormack to take the lead. With two laps to go, Evans had caught McCormack but no-one else had made a move, leaving McCormack in second place.

A sprint between Saville and Harris saw Saville claim third place.

In the roadster field, two extra riders made an impression, with Lily Falcous winning the two-lap handicap from sister Rosie Falcous and Olivia McDonald.

In a team sprint, Lily led out for Caleb Rollo, the team narrowly beating Rosie and McDonald.
