Football: About 8000 tickets sold for match

About 8000 tickets have been sold for next Tuesday's match between Newcastle United and Sydney FC at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The match is part of a week of football which will also involve West Ham United and the Wellington Phoenix.

Other games will be played in Auckland and Wellington, including a double-header to be played at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.

The game in Dunedin will kick off at 7.30pm and, under the terms of the matches, full-strength squads from both Newcastle and West Ham United will be in New Zealand.

Newcastle is expected to include Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul, who starred for the Netherlands in the World Cup.

Newcastle has made two key signings in recent days. Dutch defender Daryl Janmaat is expected to join the club from Feyenoord.

French midfielder Remy Cabella has also joined Newcastle but neither he nor Janmaat are expected to join the Newcastle side in New Zealand, as they take leave after the World Cup.
